Happy Weekend, Kids!! I just thought I’d sneak in here and share a glass of happy hour creativity with a simple card that I made using one of the super cute Party Hat Cats from Lost Coast Designs–Cheers, Paws-Up & all that rot….
Supplies I Used:
- Stamps: Party Hat Cats (Lost Coast Designs), Mini-Alphabet Letters (mfg unknown)
- Dylusions Stencil – Dotted Flowers
- Manilla Stock, White Stock, Yellow Stock, Acetate Scrap
- TH Distress Stains & Inks, White Gesso, Self-Adhesive Rhinestones
- Dimensional Magic, Multi-Medium, Double-Back Tape, 3D Dots, Heat Tool, Distresser
I started this card for a Drunken Stamper’s challenge incorporating some of Tim Holtz’s September Tag techniques – I stamped my Party Hat Cat on my manilla stock first with Archival Ink in Jet Black and also made a mask of the image. Since I had this stamp all inked up, I stamped again on a scrap piece of acetate and on a scrap piece of yellow stock — All to be used later!
I masked my kitty image then laid the dot part of the Dylusions Dotted Flowers stencil over the image strategically and lightly painted a coat of white gesso over the stencil. I carefully removed the stencil & mask and dried the gesso with my heat tool.
Now time to color the background! I spritzed with water then directly smudged and dabbed Salty Ocean, Worn Lipstick & Squeezed Lemonade DS’s. I tilted the stock to let the colors bleed into each other then applied my heat tool. I love how the Distress Stains give the white gesso polka dots a color-wash effect.
This picture doesn’t really show that this glass is the acetate scrap that I had previously stamped party kitty onto. I fussy cut the image and adhered with multi-medium to ensure you could see through the glass and get the entire background colors.
Kitty’s hat was stamped on a piece of scrap yellow stock with Jet Black Archival and then given a coat of Dimensional Magic. I let that air dry and then fussy cut it to fit Party Kitty’s attentive ears! Of course, it’s not a party hat without a few rhinestones! MEE-OOW!
I stamped the words with my mini-alphabet letters onto scrap white stock, doodled a border around each word and cut out. I inked the edges with Vintage Photo DI and adhered with 3D Dots. The card was finished with distressing of the edges and inking with Vintage Photo DI.
This Party Cat’s weekend is just beginning!! Paws Up Party Kitty–Paws Up!!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!! Thank you for stopping by and Stay Artsy Fartsy!! XOXO-Shari
