It’s New Release Time at Artistic Outpost

Happy Wednesday!!  It’s a big day at Artistic Outpost–The first Artistic Outpost New Release of 2015!!  It’s been hard to keep these images a secret, so I’m glad today is finally here!  To celebrate the occasion, all of us Artistic Outpost Designers are having a blog hop today to unveil some of the projects we’ve been creating secretly behind the scenes.

Another fun thing  happening is an AO Blog Hop contest!!*  Just visit each designer’s blog and leave a comment (on mine, too) between today and January 23rd (10pm CST) and three randomly chosen winners will win a $15 gift certificate to the AO store.  The Artistic Outpost Design Team is:  TerryGerrieLisaKateTracy (and me!).  Stop by my teammates blogs and enjoy their January 2015 New Release creations, won’t you, and while there, leave a little love, too 😉

I don’t want to keep you here long today–I want you to have enough energy to visit everyone’s blogs, so I’m going to quickly share the two cards I made for today’s New Release Blog Hop.  I’m showcasing a card made with one of the new ATC-sized, collage-style, single stamps called Sound of the Sea….

Sound of the Sea AO71

…and a card made using one of the new stamp sets called Hat’s Off.

Hats Off AO74

These stamps, along with all of the other Artistic Outpost New Releases, are stocked and in the AO store now!!

I created this ATC focal point for this card with the Sound of the Sea stamp.  Lots of Distress Paints and Archival Inks and water coloring with Distress Markers made this image come to life.  I achieved the background on the ATC by stamping the image onto tissue paper with Jet Black Archival and adhering to the panel with matte gel.  I finished with layering all of the other stamped, colored & fussy cut images and elements on top to create a mini seascape.

I even added an itty bitty little shell to the young girl’s hands to evoke that childhood wonder of hearing the ‘Sound of the Sea’ in a seashell 🙂

This layered card was made with stamps found in the new Hat’s Off set and the Ephemera Backgrounds set.

This is how I created the backgrounds of both the card base and the ATC focal point.  I stamped the Ephemera Background image with Coffee Archival Ink directly onto the stock then adhered tissue paper, that had been stamped with the bicyclists from Hat’s Off in Jet Black Archival, over the surface with matte gel.

I made both of these cards so that the ATC centers are removable.  When the recipient of the cards are done with displaying, they can remove the ATC centers and save as a special piece of mini-art 🙂

Thanks for joining me today for the first New Release of Artistic Outpost stamps for 2015!!  It really does feel good to have this secret out!!  I can’t wait to create and share more projects that I make with these new AO images!

Don’t forget to stop by my Artistic Outpost Design Team Members blogs to share in their creative excitement, too!!  They’d appreciate hearing from you and each comment you leave at each blog, gives you a chance to win that $15 AO gift certificate 🙂

Until next time–Stay Artsy Fartsy!!

  1. I love what you did with these Artistic Outpost stamps. The Sound of the Sea is gorgeous. You can tell that you really went for it with the details. Beautiful colors and perfect accents. Question: how did you make these cards so that you can remove the ATCs? Is there more artwork below so that the cards are still pretty? Thanks for sharing your talent with us!

    • Hi Patty! Thanks for coming by! I’m so glad that you’ve enjoyed my makes with the new releases!! So, I’ve made the ATC’s removable by using painters tape and double-back tape to adhere the ATC to the card base (I put little strips of painters tape to the back of the atc first-it peels off nicely, then I put little strips of double-back tape on top of the painters tape). The bard bases are plain underneath the ATC’s, but the backs of the ATC are painted/inked/stamped 🙂 XO-S

      • Thanks for the info, Shari. I like the idea of the ATCs being removable but have never tried it. Oh, that tiny shell looks amazing!

  2. I love what you’ve done with the new Artistic Outpost stamps! The Sounds of the Sea card especially calls to me. Your use of color and texture in your details makes this a really special design.

  3. Hi Shari,
Welcome to the team! I am loving your projects. The cyclist in the background is great and I love the texture on the sea atc. Lovely makes!

    • Thanks, Jerrie!! I’m so glad that you came by!! It’s faux-sand, with UTEE, a couple of Distress EP’s and some glitter, all mixed with Diamond Glaze 🙂 Easy peasy and it’s a Tim Holtz technique that I learned last year 🙂 XOXO-S

    • Hi Patty!! I’m so glad that you liked my little seaside girl 🙂 I’m from Southern California originally and I can remember being that little girl on the beach with shells to my ears to hear the ocean!! I’m a loooong way from the ocean now!! 🙂 Thanks for coming by!! XOXO-S

  4. Wonderful “happy” post! You had so much fun with this release, Love all the details of the Sea Girl, the shell in the hand is off the top! Hat man turned out Fab!

      XOXO-S

  5. Nice to see you here with the NR and hop! Sound of the Sea is lovely and dreamy and of course I love the Hat’s Off masculine card with all those bicyclists! Love them both!

    • OMG! Hi Corrie!! Thank you so much for coming over and leaving your nice comment!! I’ve got a few more creations to make and share with the new releases, so more to come that I hope you’ll enjoy 🙂 XOXO-S

  6. LOL, I LOOOOVED reading your post for today! 😉 I ALSO LIKE your idea of removing the ATC for a special piece of art to be placed elsewhere…..I will have to try this with my ATC’s! I think our kids would LOVE THIS! OH, I JUST GOT AN IDEA….!!!! THANK YOU!!! 😉 LOOOOVE the dimension & the little shell too!!!!!!!!!!! BEAUTIFUL WORK!!!!!!!!!!!;)

    • Hi TLady!! I’m sooo glad that you came by–LOVE your message–Thank You!!! Whenever anyone starts off a conversation with LOL…I’m hooked!! I’m so glad that my ‘removable’ ATC idea has your creative wheels spinning! That makes me happy!! 🙂 XOXO-S

  7. Loving all that texture in your first card and your second card had me staring and drooling! I’m so bad at making masculine cards and when I see a great one, I can only admire! FAB!

    • Thank You Becca!! I’m the same with making masculine cards (and I’ve got mostly male family members!)–it’s just so darn hard sometimes!! They’ve gotten flowers on their cards before!! Maybe now, I’ll make them manly cards with hats on them!! 😉 Thanks for coming by!! XOXO-Shari

    • Thank You Karen!! I just couldn’t not give the little girl some sand to sit on and a shell to listen to 🙂 The Hat’s Off set is a great set to create with–it’s made it easy for me to create truly masculine cards 🙂 Thank you so much for coming by and leaving your very nice comment, Karen!! So very appreciated!! XOXO-Shari

    • Hi There Karen! Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment!! I’m so glad that you liked my NR makes and my (last minute) removable ATC idea 🙂 I figure, cards usually get thrown away at some point–at least the ATC focal point can be kept!! 🙂 Thanks again for stopping by!! XOXO-S

  8. The Sound of the Sea is my favorite, but you have a way of making me want to buy these new stamps. I like the way you combine your techniques to bring out the best in these stamps. Fantastic job!

    • Thank You soooo much, Sharon!! I’m so glad that you came by! I may have even been a bit ‘conservative’ with my crafting with these images this time around…I’ve got more creations in the works!! Hope to see you again!! XOXO-S

    • Thank You Astrid!! Gosh, I feel like I could have done sooo much better with my projects!! (yeah, I’m my own worse critic!) LOL 🙂 Your kind words make me feel better! 🙂 XOXO-Shari

  9. Hi Shari, I have to go off my work with my colleague now arghhhh haha, will be back to read you and see both cards in details tomorrow morning 😀 Hugs xxx

  10. Welcome to the AO DT, Shari! Wonderful projects using the new releases! Fabulous texture on the Sound of the Sea, love the addition of the shell. The removable ATC on the Hat’s Off set is genius!

  11. i love love love what you’ve done with “sound of the sea” it makes me think of happy times at the beach! and i am totally in love with the hats series. thanks for this awesome blog hop! xo

  12. You could not have coloured the Sound of the Sea more perfectly, it is so sympathetic to the stamps you inked up and Shari, the addition of that teeny shell is adorable to say the very least.
Then we move onto the dapper gent with that background which is so effective. The end result of the background looks as though you purchased some pricey printed tissue paper! You are just so clever.
I know I am far too late for the Blog Hop but I still wanted to leave you a comment.
    Wishes
    Lynne

  13. Now that’s frustrating – I know I commented on this – remember both these so clearly – the gorgeous colouring on Sound of the Sea, and that fabulous gent. I think when I leave comments on my iPad they don’t get through… which is annoying to say the very least!! In any case, on a more positive front, and to the point of the comment – glorious work with the new releases, Shari!
    Alison xx

    • Oh, Alison–No worries!! Thank you for coming back and trying again!! I think my hubby’s iPad does the same thing! Darn technology!! Would you believe I still have a couple of unfinished new release creations sitting on my table? LOL!! I’ve got a couple of Christmas related projects that I need to finish and share still!! Stay Tuned!! 🙂 XOXO-S
