Little Spring Flowers

Hi There!!  It’s Midnight, April 1st in the UK which means I’m here today wearing my Eclectic Ellapu Purple Team hat for the start of our April Challenge Theme–April Showers & Spring.  I did something, a little new for me, for this challenge–I “made” a little pendant!  Well, I used a frame charm to create a sweet little necklace, to celebrate both the rain and the new blooms of Spring.

This is the Spring side in bloom!  A delicate little floral image from my Birds of a Feather stamp set.  I inked the image directly with Distress Markers, spritzed the stamp with water, then stamped onto mixed-media paper.  I heat dried then spritzed with shimmer mist and heat set.

Here is the April Rain side!  I great big rain drop, all shiny and wet (looking)!  I inked a piece of mixed-media paper with Tumbled Glass DI, stamped the rain drop with Jet Black Archival, then gave a coat of Diamond Glaze and let air dry.  When dry, I spritzed with shimmer mist and heat set.

I treated the frame charm with Bottle & Lettuce Adirondack Alcohol Inks and let air dry.  The bloom side of the charm is protected with a piece of acetate, making this charm 3 layers thick.  I already want to re-do this and use thinner water color paper, so that both sides of the pendant are protected with acetate.

Although this side of the pendant is not protected, the rain drop itself is, because of the layer of diamond glaze.  If this gets wet in its unprotected state, the background might get compromised.  I’ll be re-doing this quickly 🙂

So, there you have it.  A cute and crafty little piece of jewelry, that can be changed for the seasons!  This will also be my last posting as a Purple Team Member at Eclectic Ellapu.  I’ve had so much fun creating for the monthly challenges and Elaine, aka Eclectic Ellapu, made my experience with EE so enjoyable!  Thank You for having me, Elaine!!

I’ll be back later tonight, wearing another Design Team hat, ‘full of color’–hint hint 😉 🙂

Until next time–Stay Artsy Fartsy!!
