Saved from a Rainy Day

Hi There!! Happy Sunday!!  I’m posting for Artistic Outpost today and I’m so glad that I ran across this card in my ‘finished’ stack, because it’s one I made for our Spring New Release back in May that I haven’t shared yet!

Oh these kids, I just love them–they’re so sweet with the boy holding the umbrella over the little girl!  I’m using images from our Springtime and The Outpost stamp sets in today’s card.

This image of these gelli prints may look familiar-it’s from from one of my New Release postings in June (In The Rain).  These are two gelli print backgrounds made with DA Crafters Acrylics in Daffodil Yellow & Turquoise and DAM Translucent White fluid acrylic.

For today’s card, I’m using the panel on the left with the Flourish LS imprint that didn’t take too well.  You can barely see some of the design from the stencil, but I’m totally OK with that.  I really like this panel for what I call the ‘splotchiness’ of colors.

I stamped the house & tree image found in The Outpost set, onto the panel with Jet Black Archival.  I stamped the script image randomly across the background with Mustard Seed DI and applied strips of Sketchbook tissue tape here and there.  I used an old gift card to add the lines of paint.  The house image was stamped separately onto a painted panel of stock with Jet Black Archival and fussy cut.

I stamped the children from the Springtime set onto the background panel and onto a separate piece of stock with Jet Black Archival and fussy cut.  Even though you can see the stamped image behind them, like a shadow, I still outlined them with Walnut Stain DI and my water brush.  I stamped the umbrella separately with Mustard Seed DI, heat embossed with clear embossing powder and fussy cut.

Using Jet Black Archival, I stamped the quote several times onto tissue paper and fussy cut.  I also stamped the quote again onto white card stock and fussy cut.  I adhered the tissue paper quotes to the border with matte multi-medium and I mounted the card stock quotes onto black card stock and adhered onto the panel with matte multi-medium.  I finished the panel by inking the edges with Black Soot DI and  a splattering of Black Soot DP over the entire surface with a round water color brush.

I hope you enjoyed today’s visit back to Spring, maybe back to memories of cooler temperatures and rain and cooler temperatures?! I could use some cooler temps right about now!  We’re back into the triple digits for this 1st weekend of August, Summer is firmly replanted into place!!

OH–Speaking of 1st’s…Tomorrow is the first Monday of the month, which means I’ll be back for our Product Focus feature!  Hope ya’ll can come back for a visit!

Until next time–Stay Artsy Fartsy!!

  1. The AO stamps look fabulous the way you combined them! Love the kids strolling in the rain! Your background is such fun and I love how you worked that plate! I don’t have one as I figure with our very dry heat, the paint will harden and dry too quickly! Happy Sunday!

    • Happy Sunday to You, Terry!! 🙂 🙂 Thank you sooo much for your kind compliment on this lil’ ole card! 🙂 Yes–with the higher 90’s we’re having, I’m working really fast with the gelli plate, and cleaning it up really quickly, too–but it’s worth it to have one…maybe even just a little one? 😉 🙂 Thank You for coming by!! XOXO-Shari

  2. Hello Shari, such a beautiful a creation, with the great gelli background, I love the colours, making all the black stamped images and words, pop so beautiful. The little house is the sweetest eye catcher – and the tissue paper stamped words all around the edges is wonderful.

  7. Wonderful card Shari, love your gelli background (splotchy is good!) and love the shadow effect you achieved by stamping the kids underneath your popped up fussy cut. The tissue paper border with your sentiment stamped on it is a fabulous idea! Thanks so much for sharing it with us all, Deb xo

    • Hi Deb!! Thank You soooo much!! I’m thinking splotchy is good, too 😉 🙂 Embrace Imperfection, right?! 🙂 🙂 Thank You for coming over, Deb!! XOXO-Shari
