Shades of Autumn

Hello & Welcome to a brand new challenge month at Our Creative Corner.  With Fall just around the corner, my lovely OCC Design Teammie Julia is challenging us with the theme of Shades of Autumn.  Let’s hear what Julia is looking for–

“I love the colours of Autumn!  Those beautiful and dramatic reds, golds, yellows, browns, greens and all shades in between.  Your challenge this month is to take some inspiration from the colours in the image provided and make an Autumnal inspired project.”

This month’s Our Creative Corner challenge is being sponsored by–

gc25 (1)

One randomly drawn participant will win a $25 gift certificate to Creative Embellishments.

We will also have a Shades of Autumn Top Winner who will be awarded a future Guest Designer spot at Our Creative Corner and we have our Top 3 Blog Badges to award as well.  All kinds of good things going on!!  Let me show you what I’m creating for Julia’s challenge–

My Shades of Autumn project is one that is still in progress–I’m making garlands of fall leaves for a display table.

I started by die cutting lots and lots of Tattered Leaves and Layered Leaves out of pieces of Collage Paper Stash and Core’dinations stock.

I ran the leaves through their embossing folder and treated them further with Distress Inks and the addition of metallic leafing to some of the leaves.

I spritzed the leaves with different colors of Perfect Pearls Mist and wrapped them with wire for a little interest.

I machine stitched all of the Tattered Leaves together to make a string of leafy garland that will go around the perimeter of the display table.

I’m adhering the bigger leaves together to form different lengths of garland that will hang down from the stitched string of garland.

This is a dry run of what the table garland will look like and I’ll be making enough lengths to go around 3 sides of a 6′ x 2′ table.

There you have it–My Shades of Autumn project-in progress-for Our Creative Corner this month.  You’ve got until September 28th, 11:55pm GDT to bring your Shades of Autumn projects over to join in our challenge.  Hope to see you there!!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!!  Until next time–Stay Artsy Fartsy!!
