Little Merry Christmas Trees

HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY FRIDAY & MERRY CHRISTMAS one more time!!  I’m here on this Eve of Christmas Eve real quickly today to share a couple more little pieces of Christmas ‘art’ that I made for the holiday–Well, they’re actually a couple more ornaments 😉 🙂

dsc00363

These ornaments were so fun and easy to make, I wish I had made more (to keep for myself!) LOL!  Alas, these ornaments were sent out as little gifts, and knowing they have arrived at their destinations, I can now talk about them and share how I put these together 🙂 🙂

dsc00354

For this first little ornament, I painted the base and hanger of the decorative dome with Picket Fence DP and let air dry then I sprayed this mini Christmas tree with Picket Fence DSS and set that aside to drip dry.

dsc00359

This second mini Christmas tree was sprayed with Mowed Lawn DSS and I painted the base with Gathered Twigs DP.

dsc00356

When the trees were dry, I rubbed the tips of the bristles with diamond glaze then dipped and rolled each in Clear Rock Candy DG.  While the glitter was drying,  I made the two shrink plastic Merry Christmas tags–I stamped Merry Christmas onto pieces of shrink plastic with Jet Black Archival, punched holes into the plastic, then shrunk down using my embossing heat tool.

dsc00362

I applied a layer of white embossing paste onto the bases of the decorative domes, sprinkled with Clear Rock Candy DG then set each tree into the center of the wet embossing paste.  Then I dipped the rims of the glass domes into a little puddle of gloss Decou-Page and pressed into the wet embossing paste.

dsc00363

When the domes were dried and secured, I placed each on a hanger with a few beads and the shrink plastic tags, and that’s all there was to them!  Are these cute or what?!  I just love them and I really did want to keep them!!  LOL!! 🙂 🙂

I don’t think I’ll have another posting until next Thursday, so I’ll sign off for now with BIG WISHES of a Very Merry Christmas to you all!!

Thanks so much for stopping in today!!  Until next time–Stay Artsy Fartsy!!

Mini-Canvas Ornaments

HI THERE & HAPPY TUESDAY-Thanks for dropping in today!!  I’ve been a little busy at the craft table lately and I’ve gotten most of my Christmas creations finished for the season, but I’m doing something different this year–I didn’t make Christmas cards, I made little pieces of Christmas art instead!

dsc00336

This is the first set of goodies I made–a trio of mini-canvas ornaments, that overall, were pretty quick and easy to make because they are so small (and cute if I don’t say so myself)!  Let me tell you a little bit about them–

dsc00345

These mini canvases measure 2″x 2″ and I started with texturing the background of each canvas with Tim’s Bubble LS and white embossing paste.  While the embossing paste was still wet, I sprinkled Clear Rock Candy Distress Glitter over the surface and let air dry–Love those sparkles!  When the EP was dry, I rubbed the top of each canvas with blue tones of Distress Stains-Broken China, Faded Jeans & Salty Ocean, then spritzed the canvases with water and let that color do its thing.

dsc00328

The snowflake that adorns each canvas is Tim’s Layered Snowflake die cut out of shrink plastic.  Before shrinking each snowflake, I colored with alcohol inks and touches of silver paint pen.  Before adhering the snowflakes, I drilled a little hole in the top and bottom of the canvases to insert the seam binding hangar and beaded doo-dad.

dsc00333

To hide the backsides of the canvases with their internal workings of the seam binding and beaded accent, I stenciled and stained a piece of mixed-media paper in the same manner as the front sides, except I stenciled with Picket Fence DP.  I cut the pieces of stenciled & stained mixed media paper to size, ran through my sewing machine, roughed up the edges with my paper distresser, then rubbed the edges with Hickory Smoke DI.

dsc00343

I printed the ‘Merry Christmas’ word bands from my computer and finished each canvas with a little Mirrored Heart to add an extra little touch of sparkle.  See–Easy Peasy!!

I’ve got a few more Christmas art pieces on the craft table that I need to hurry and finish, and as long as I take pictures of them before packing up, I’ll be back to share-You know how that can go!  So, hopefully I’ll be back soon, but if I go missing, I could be waiting in line at the post office!! LOL 😉 🙂

Thanks again for stopping by today for a visit!!  Until next time–Stay Artsy Fartsy!!
