Funky Chickens

HAPPY HAPPY FRIDAY!!  We’re on Day 5 of our  New Stamps Showcase Blog Hop at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity and today I’ve got two cards to share that I made using a couple of our new Cracked Critters stamps-Cracked Bird and Cracked Chicken.

I was having so much fun creating these two cards, that I completely forgot to take pictures while I was going along-Sorry about that!  But that doesn’t mean I can’t tell you a little bit of what I did to put them together–It was easy!

DSC09285

I’m also using stamps found in the LCD New Images category; 2″ Grunge Border and Misc Words stamps on both cards-Love Them!  Here, I stamped the Cracked Bird onto my background with Jet Black Archival and masked off.  I then used a variety of Distress Inks to ink up the 2″ Grunge Border stamp, spritzed the stamp with water, then pressed onto the panel.  I heat set, then repeated the process two more times to create that colorful & grungy background.

I removed the mask of the Cracked Bird then layered a separately stamped, heat embossed and fussy cut bird onto the panel.  I smudged with Hickory Smoke DI and my water brush then added an outline with white gel pen.  I added a few pieces of tissue tape to anchor the image, then ran through my sewing machine for a little extra texture.

I roughed up the edges of the panel with my paper distresser then ran through my sewing machine again to add the stitched border.  I added the Funky word band, which is just one of the words within the 6″ x 7″ Misc Word stamp, inked the edges with Hickory Smoke DI and attached to a pink card base.

I did the same thing to this card, except I kept the background black & white and I water colored the Cracked Chicken.

I also added a bit of paint splatter and ink spritz to the background of each card, to give them an even grungier look!  I mounted this panel onto a dark purple card base.

These Cracked Bird images are just a couple of Cracked Critters that LCD-CV Owner/Designer Linda Malcolm designed, after being inspired by cracks in a sidewalk-How cool is that!?  A perfect example of never knowing where creative inspiration may come from–COOL!!

I hope you’ve enjoyed the first couple of projects I’ve made with some of our Cracked Critters images.  I’ll be back in our New Stamps Showcase Blog Hop next week with another card I made using the Cracked Party Cat stamp–a totally cool image!  It’s one that just makes me smile, so hop on by next week and see what’s up with this party cat!!

Thanks soooo much for stopping by!!  Until next time–Stay Artsy Fartsy!!

I’m using our Typography set–

–along with Generation Redux to create my card today.

DSC07921

This card was really easy to make, as I already had the background panel ready to go and I knew which AO images I was going to use.

DSC07823

I’m using another piece of this master board I made last week.

DSC07824

I had to show you a close-up of what this background looks like, before I start covering it up.  I just love how pressing the stencil around on the gelli plate transfers the different paint colors about!

DSC07826

This demure young woman is in the Generation Redux set (and another one of my fav AO images) and I stamped her onto my panel with Jet Black Archival and heat set, then I roughed up the edges with my paper distresser.

DSC07830

I added lines & circles of paint with an old gift card and a paint cap.  I’m using DAM Fluid Acrylics in Carbon Black & Translucent White and PA Chalk Fresco Acrylic in Banana.

DSC07832

I stamped this image again onto mixed-media paper with Jet Black Archival and water colored with my Distress Markers and water brush.  I fussy cut her out and added Diamond Glaze to her glasses.

DSC07917

I mounted her onto the panel with matte Decou-Page and outlined her with Black Soot DI and my water brush.  I added a second outline with my white gel pen and anchored her with some messy machine stitching.

DSC07916

This is one of the quotes found in the Typography set, a set filled with fantastic verses!  I stamped it onto tissue paper with Jet Black Archival and carefully fussy cut with my finger knife.  I adhered the pieces of stamped tissue paper to the panel with matte Decou-Page and let air dry.  Once it was dry, I outlined them with the fine tip of my Black Soot DM and my white gel pen.

DSC07921

I inked the edges with Black Soot DI and my ink blending tool and attached to a dark purple card base.  Easy Peasy, Lemon Squeezy!!

Thanks so much for coming back today and hopping along in our August Product Focus feature!  If you’re hopping in order Terry is next, but if you like to hop in no particular order, here’s the line-up again–
